Danny Boy’s return

Tall and gaunt with sunken eye and wispy red grey hair

contorted face and angry,

embittered by acrid smoke from inner embers of defeat,

despite the sympathetic nods and smiles who remember his glories.

He shambles to his end, getoutof myway!

Followed by the serene, calm ageless girl

Who will tend his grave and soothe his soul.

  1. Oh Mal, I hope the mood passes!  But as a fellow lover of poetry I would
suggest that a bit of editing would add to the descriptive success
without changing any of the gist, but I don’t want to intrude….

so I’ll just say that it will stay in my mind (as amended) better than
    those of Lidi de Wahl.
